Tuckahoe Artists Association

The Tuckahoe Artists Association was founded and held its first meeting on Tuesday April 20, 1971. Originally, membership was drawn from the Tuckahoe Woman’s Club located in the west end of Richmond, Virginia. Currently the organization has about 50 members including active, associate and honorary members. Membership is drawn from diverse sources in the metropolitan area and consists of established professional artists as well as aspiring new ones.

The purpose of the organization is to stimulate interest in the fine arts. In order to achieve its purposes, the association has regular meetings on the third Tuesday of September, October, January and February at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Avenue at 9:30 A.M. Guest artists make presentations regarding their work and special techniques or give demonstrations, lessons or critiques of members’ works. Several exhibits of members’ works are scheduled throughout the year at a variety of venues in the Richmond area. Once a year we organize a Judged Exhibit where members’ works may be critiqued and awarded ribbons by a local professional artist/judge. A spring trip to art museums of interest is sponsored as well. An annual meeting and luncheon is held in May. Officers are elected to a two-year term.

Approximately six to eight exhibits of members’ works are scheduled annually at various venues in the Richmond area. In January, the Annual Judged Exhibit is held at the Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Road, works are judged and awarded ribbons by local Richmond professional artists.
